National Lottery funding boosts our work with young people and advocates

Article 39 is celebrating a new three-year grant from the National Lottery Community Fund, which will help us build our community of young people and advocates fighting for the rights of children and young people.

This new funding will allow us to increase our small team, bringing in a new Deputy Director to increase our capacity to communicate children and young people’s views and experiences to national decision-makers, and a new Membership and Governance Officer to help everything run smoothly. We’re also able to extend our Head of Children’s Rights Advice Service post, providing expert help to advocates working directly with children and young people all across England.

Carolyne Willow, Article 39’s Director, said:

“We’re thrilled to have this support from the National Lottery, which will help us defend the rights of many more children and young people who are in care and/or living in institutional settings. We look forward to working with even more young people and advocates to bring about positive change – in individual lives and in wider policies affecting children and young people.

Rights are useless if no-one knows they exist, or they just sit there as words on paper. This wonderful funding from the National Lottery will make rights real for children and young people living in really tough circumstances. We’re incredibly grateful to have this support – thank you National Lottery and everyone who has put money into its vital good causes.

Article 39’s vacancies will be advertised on our website and elsewhere shortly.
