Our England-wide Children and Young People’s Advocates Network seeks to uphold the rights of children and young people through promoting and supporting excellent advocacy.
We use legal education, peer-learning, and advocacy-focused resources to support and empower independent advocates and children’s rights officers in their work with and for children and young people.
The Network is free to join. Membership is open to independent advocates and children’s rights officers who:
- Currently provide advocacy to individual children and young people (0-25 years old) in England in any setting or manage a team of advocates (i.e., provide direct supervision); and
- Identify with the goals and ethos of advocacy.
Whether you work for a large, advocacy-only service or a small community-based organisation providing advocacy as part of holistic support, you are welcome to join our community.
high-quality, specialist training
Our courses are interactive, practical, informed by real-life advocacy scenarios and designed to equip participants with relevant knowledge, skills and abilities.
learning and development events
These include our virtual ‘advocacy clinics’, where advocates work through case studies with the help of legal experts, and online seminars and lectures.
peer support and learning exchange spaces
By getting together with fellow members up and down the country, advocates can share and work through challenges, celebrate wins and explore good practice.
children’s rights advice service
We provide straightforward information about the law and government guidance to help our members understand children’s rights and entitlements in specific situations.
GUIDES AND RESOURCES ON USING THE LAW IN ADVOCACY
Our thematic guides, ‘law maps’ and accessible summaries of court judgments help advocates and children’s rights officers get to grips with the law to better protect children and young people’s rights.
We help you stay informed, connected and up-to-date by sharing new opportunities and letting you know about relevant sector updates.
OPPORTUNITY TO INFLUENCE NATIONAL-LEVEL LAW AND POLICY
We involve members in national campaigns and influencing activities to ensure our policy work reflects children, young people and advocates’ experiences and priorities.
A COMMUNITY OF LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE
As a member, you’ll be a part of a community of committed and passionate people fighting for respect and rights for vulnerable children and young people.
