Change through Advocacy is back again for 2023! This year, children, young people, advocates, and the Article 39 team will be creating a magazine exploring what is needed for children’s advocacy to be the best it can be.

What is Change through Advocacy?

Change through Advocacy is an annual magazine all about raising awareness and championing independent advocacy for children and young people in England. The project brings together children, young people, advocates, and the Article 39 team.

Who can take part in this year’s project?

We would love you to join us in this years Change through Advocacy if:

You are aged 25 years or under; and
You have experience of:
- Being helped by an advocate; or
- Being in care; or
- Living in an institutional setting like a mental health unit or prison.

You do not need to have done anything like this before. We welcome all children and young people who want to share your thoughts and ideas about how advocacy for children and young people can be the best it can be.

Whether you are shy and quiet or bubbly and chatty – you are welcome to join the project and we will always respect and value you just as you are!

What will I do?

There are 3 different workshops which you can take part in to help create this year’s Change through Advocacy magazine. These workshops will be full of fun and creative activities about advocacy for children and young people. We will use what we create in these workshops to help build the magazine.

WORKSHOP 1: Making advocacy work for young people
Monday 25th September 2023, 5.30-7pm on Zoom
WORKSHOP 2: Spreading awareness about advocacy
Tuesday 3rd October 2023, 5.30-7pm on Zoom
WORKSHOP 3: What makes an amazing advocate?
Wednesday 11th October 2023, 5.30-7pm on Zoom

How will my time and expertise be acknowledged?

For each workshop, your time and expertise will be acknowledged with a £30 gift card and a certificate. Article 39 has a selection of gift cards to choose from which will be sent to your email.
