Before Area Coroner Peter Anthony Murphy
North London Coroner’s Court, George Meehan House, 294 High Road, London, N22 8JZ
Opens Monday 19 May 2025, listed 5 days
Nonita Grabovskyte died after being struck by a train in North London on 28 December 2023, less than one month after her 18th birthday. Nonita had been looked after by the London Borough of Barnet from the age of 16. An inquest will now open into her death.
Nonita was neurodivergent and autistic. She had been living in supported accommodation as a looked after child and at the time of her death, despite being recognised as extremely vulnerable with a history of mental ill health.
The inquest will explore the appropriateness of Nonita’s placement as well as examining the circumstances of her death, and the care she received from various agencies including the local authority, health services and other support organisations.
Article 39 and INQUEST have been granted Interested Person (IP) status in the inquest. It is believed this is the first time that a non-governmental organisation has been granted IP status despite not knowing or being in contact with the deceased person before they died.
